Wastewater
The
term wastewater refers to all the water that enters
the septic system form household plumbing. Wastewater
is processed by your septic system to remove solid matter,
organic matter, and all sorts of pathogens and waterborne
diseases.
When
wastewater passes through the septic tank, and solids
are removed, the remaining liquid is refered to as effluent.
The effluent is further processed as it percolates through
the drainfield. Viruses, harmful bacteria, protozoas,
worms and other microrganisms are removed. Waterborne
diseases can be spread by contaminated water, or wastewater
that has not been properly or fully treated. You can
see why it is so important to maintain your septic system
in proper working condition.
